Who we are

The Kurdistan AI Safety Hub is an academic initiative affiliated with AI Kurd, based in Erbil. For any question about your data, email kurdistanaisafetyhub@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Applications to our programs or our team: your contact details, education and work background, the links you share, your written answers and your availability.
• Mailing list: your email address.
• Accounts, if you create one: your name, your email address, your password (stored only in scrambled form, so nobody can read it) and anything you add to your profile, such as your picture, city and interests.
• Drafts: while you fill in an application, your answers are saved in your own browser so you don’t lose them. We cannot see these drafts. They are deleted when you submit or clear the form.

We don’t use advertising trackers on this site. When you use the sign-in or registration pages, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in and protects the forms. It isn’t used for anything else.

How we use it

• To assess your application and contact you about it.
• If you’re accepted, to run the program: scheduling, communication, attendance and certificates.
• To publish anonymous totals in our end-of-cohort report, such as the number of applications. Nothing in that report identifies you.
• To send the mailing list, only if you asked to join it.
• To show you your profile. Profiles are private: other visitors and members can’t see them.

Who sees it

Only the Hub’s review team and the staff who run the program. We don’t sell your data or share it with AI Kurd for marketing. Your data is stored with Kurdistan AI Safety Hub.

If you apply for a course that a university runs through its page on this site, your application goes to that university’s representatives as well as the Hub’s team, so the university can assess it and contact you.

How long we keep it

• Unsuccessful applications: deleted 12 months after the decision, unless you ask us to keep them for a future round.
• Participant records: kept for the length of the program plus 3 years, so we can confirm completion if asked.
• Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
• Accounts: until you delete your account, which you can do yourself from your profile. Your picture is deleted with it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing kurdistanaisafetyhub@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
